Fuel Level Sensor

Well, I'm getting tired of guessing how much fuel I have, so I've decided to take the plunge and replace the fuel level sensor. Should I go ahead and replace the pump too? My truck has 75,000 mi. and I know eventually I'll have to replace the pump. Any suggestions ? Thanks

I just had mine changed out at a dealers, the only thing about doing it your self is needing to work under the truck. I have a gooseneck ball that was in the truck when I bought it and it is welded to the frame so after taking all the bed bolts out they had to drop the tank instead of pulling the bed off which would have made the job take about an hour less. :banghead:

If you don't mind me asking, what did the dealer charge? I really don't have the time to do it myself.

it's all one unit, $225 from your local auto parts store.

If you have a pickup, it is much easier to pull the bed back a couple of feet :banghead:

The dealer gets way too much to do that IMO

I bought an AC Delco part from a dealer on E-bay. Fuel Pump, sending unit, all one unit. $130 delivered to my door. Look around before checking with the dealer. My local dealer wanted $400 to change the sending unit alone. I was shocked!

Yeah, I found an AC Delco on eBay for $125.00 plus shipping. I think I'll get it and slide my bed back far enough to change it myself. Shouldn't be that tough. Thanks for your input.
