Help me decide!!!

Ok, I own a 2001 Chevy silverado Z71 extended cab pickup with quad door. I love my baby. But I have been thinking that I need newer. I've been eyeing the avalanches. I like there look, but I have two kids and I like the safety of the quad doors ( they can't open the back doors without opening the front doors). But I was wondering if I can get advice from any of you to help decide what to do. I'd appreciate the advice

Okay, you asked for opinions, so here's mine:

I'm not a fan of the Avalanches. IF you HAVE to get one, get the model without all that cheap plastic body molding. They at least look halfway decent.

I'm not sure how you use your pickup, but I'm of the opinion that dual-purpose vehicles like the Avalanche don't excel at being either type of vehicle. If you're going to use it in "SUV" mode, get the SUV. If you need a pickup bed for hauling, you won't find that in the Avalanche.

The only positive I can see in the Avalanche is the full-size rear doors and leg room for when the kiddies get bigger. But, if that's what I was buying a vehicle for, I'd be getting a Tahoe/Suburban or Crew Cab pickup.

Remember, this is all my opinion, so take it as you may.

Best of luck with whatever you choose.

My Sierra has the child safety locks on the rear doors. I like having the full doors better than the 1/2 doors, easier to deal with in a parking lot for sure.

Just my opinion.

My wife has a 05 Avalanche and loves it. The 4 doors are nice and there is plenty of leg room for the children. It is nice to drive but will probably never be off road. As long as you don't have to haul anything larger than 6 ft, you will be ok. If you drive your existing truck like a car, the the Avalanche will suit your needs.

Good Luck with your decision....

The only hauling that we do is for my sons 4 wheeler which is a small one (185) and my boyfriends dirtbike (rm125).( unless we need to do a moving job for friends and family, not that often). But my son is getting bigger and need more room in the back also.

Hey thanks for the replys

I Love my Avalanche! The 2 biggest things you will notice going from the Extended Cab to the Av are the full back seat, which is great, and the ride quality! The Avalanche is the best riding full size truck/suv I've been in! Since it is on the Suburban frame, it rides like a suburban instead of a truck! The water tight, locking bed is great as well for throwing stollers, groceries, etc back there! Also, the 3 bed panels come off in a matter of seconds to have an open bed, and the rear seat and midgate folds down in seconds as well to have a full 8' bed! You really need to go check one out in person, because there are so many ways you can configure it and it has a lot of really nice functions you need to see in person!

I think youd be fine with an extended cab Silverado. At least that way you can get it with a decent sized bed.

Im not a fan of the smaller beds that a lot of the crewcab 1/2-ton trucks have.

I agree. Plus I'm not a fan of that plastic look the avalanche has going on. Also, with the midgate folded down, it seems like the cab could get pretty messy in a hurry. Thats just me though.

Is a 1500 crew-cab a possibility for you chevygirl?

I know the beds on them are pretty short, but I can see one of those hauling your dirtbikes and whatnot better than an Avalanche. ...Just a thought.

I own the extended cab 1500 LS silverado Z71 and I love it so much, I'm just wondering if I should go newer then the 2001 and I do like the look of the avalanche. But I am starting to agree that I'd be better of with the pick-up due to the wheeler and the dirt bike. Thanks for the opinions everyone. :driving:
