Speedo wiring

I am retro fitting a NV3500 into my 87 GMC 1/2 ton. I already know I must change the speedo in the dash to electronic. Indent on using a VDO #437155, this speedo will fit under the dash bezel. What I need to know is the type of sensor. I suspect that it is an inductive sensor. Thanks
