Have a 88 k1500 Z71 with power door locks. They just went inop. Neither door will work. Is there a fuse? Bad switch? Any help would be appreciated. I know it is old but not ready for the junk yard yet. Thanks.....Doug

Are they making any kind of noise when you actuate them (IE A buzzing or clicking)? The motors may've died out. If they're stock, definitely is the motor since they don't last much longer than 5-10 years. On my Mom's 94 Grand Am they died about 2000.

It could also be a blown relay. I'd check the motors first. Disassemble the doors and remove the motors, then tap the wire coming out of the motor to a 12v source (like the battery's + terminal).

I'll try that. I can't believe both side would go bad at the same time. Neither side makes any noise when switch is pushed (drivers or passengers). Where are the relays? Is that the silver fuse like things in the fuse panel?

Thanks.....Doug

I'm not too sure really. The only real experience I have is with aftermarket units and mine goes to a black box. I'd get a service manual if you could, it'd detail where they'd be located.

It does sound odd that both would stop working at the same time.

I have heard that a bad motor would be moving slowly for a while - did you notice that?

For what it is worth, whenver I have electrical issues I pull the fuse & leave it out for about 20 minutes. Sometimes the problem clears up, sometimes it don't. I don't understand this but it worked very well on the wife's VW Jetta. Putting the same fuse in imediatly would not work, the same 20 minutes later worked.

Made in mexico junk.

Ya might try just cleaning the drivers side switch terminals.

The power usually goes from that switch to the passenger side, which could be the reason they both quit at the same time.

Due to inflation, that's my 6.8475¢.

I pulled the switch, it was corroded. I have cleaned the switch up but still no avail. I even tried useing the window switch; same results. I am still playing though......

Starting to have battery drain, I wonder if the problems are related. The truck has to be jump started after it sits for a day or two. This just started. Is there a way to find power draw?

Help me.....
