Need to change the front left rotor on my 99 GMC Suburban k2500 4x4 w/7.4l V8. When I changed pads in the past, I was not able to figgure out how to remove the rotor. Do I need to mess with the 4wd unit in order to remove the rotor? Or is there a simple way to swap it out?

Thanks.

I'm guessing you have an old body style. You have to remove the 4 bolts behind the spindle and the axle nut. Then pry the rotor and hub asm. out of the spindle. Then you have to remove the studs and the rotor will fall off.

Yes, it's the old body style.

I removed the wheel and he caliper. I see 4 bolts on the back side as well as the axle nut (which is larger than the 1 1/8 socket I have). I'm wondering what the torque values of these bolts and the axle nut are. I want to be sure that I get it reassembled right. Any help on that info... is there a source I can reference here online?

Also, are there any tricks I need to be aware of? Are any of these left handed threads? I don't want to tighten the nut or bolt when I think I am removing it. Do I need to use locktite when I reassemble? I don't want the wheel falling off.

Thanks.

Ok, now I'm stuck. I was able to remove the hub nut. I also was able to remove the 4 bolts on the back side (15mm). However, I can't seem to pry the rotor and hub assembly out of the spindle....

SInce the rotor is trashed, I've been pounding on it with a hammer in the hopes that it will pop off. So far, nothing. What am I doing wrong? Where do I pry at (I don't want to break/bend anything)? It almost feels like there is something still holding this assembly together.... is there another nut or something that I have to remove?

Thanks.
