Wire harness for break controller

My manual says that there is a supplied wiring harnes for an electronic brake controler. It is an 04 Chevy Z71. I bought it used, so I don't know if the previous owner already took it. Where is it located?

They are typically in the glove compartment. If it is not there you can buy them wherever you bought your brake controller. I work for CARQUEST Auto Parts and we sell them.

Look in the glove compartment. Chances are the last owner threw it out. You can get them from the dealer. Or if you don't have a controller yet, get a Tekonsha Prodigy and buy the harness for it. Plug and play! Doesn't get any easier.

in 03 GM stopped gifting them with new trucks. I had to buy mine from Prodigy.

Thats because they needed the plastic for more important parts, like steering shaft components.

So previous trucks actually had them installed at the factory? Makes sense. For the '06 modesl, GM got so cheap that they do not even provide 7 pin to 4 pin adapators for the twoing harness connector. They will gladly sell you one for about $ 20 though.

It plugs into the MBEC which is the black box on the firewall on the drivers side (above your left foot). It's useless unless you're also hooking up a brake controller.
