2003 Silverado spotted!

Spotted a 2003 half-ton extended cab today, right after running up the pricing @ (kelley blue book.  The best part it was the new arrival blue.  Looked pretty good too - I think I could live with the new front-end!  :)

Anybody wants details on options/packaging, let me know, or visit the kbb site.  Base $ for the 1/2 ton, x cab short box LS (w/ 4.8L) is $29,061 retail.  Mine shot to about $33,900. w/ all the goodies I wanted.  Think I might spring for the Protec, which is also woven into the PDX - Premium Package, which had all the goodies I want anyway.  :D

Prices sound reasonable, that is for a 4x4 right?  Where did you see it driving around at?  Did it have Manufacturer's or dealership plates on it?

I spotted it as I was making a left-turn in front of it, so I didn't have a lot of time to get a fix, but the grill was unmistakable.    Actually, I had the left-turn arrow @ a light.  I am pretty sure it was a z-71 4x4, but I couldn't see the back, and MI doesn't have front plates.  My best guess was a manufacturer plate - we have lots of GM engineers (all the Big 3 and some imports) who bring these test and pre-production mules home here in Ann Arbor.

BTW, considering the proximity to Car and Driver, it may have been on loan to them for review - don't know.  I did a lot of rubber necking, and went thru the turn as slow as I dared!  He probably laughed a fair amount about it.

The price for the '03 I spec'd was a 4x4.  It's hard to compare apples and apples w/ the '02 (I tried from one on a lot - packaging and options a little different), but I'd say the difference is about $300 - $400 higher for the '03.  I'll try to tighten this up a little, and post later if I see any major difference.

As of June 30, there was only pricing on KBB for the 1/2 ton '03s.

Check your local dealer lots this week.

Saw a bunch of them on the transports heading

out of Canada this weekend.

The closer you live to Canada or MI, the faster you'll see 'em.
