Tire recommendations

I just purchased a 2500HD two days ago (gotta love the 0.0% financing) and I was showing it off to my uncle who has a crew cab 1500. I told him that I wanted to swap out the tires for 285/75-16's when the stock tires are worn out and he made the offer to buy my stock tires off me for a reasonable price (his are just about shot) so that I could go ahead and upgrade sooner.

Anyways, my truck is 2wd and while the winters here aren't that incredibly bad, we do get some decent snow/ice storms. I'd like some pretty aggressive looking tires (just as an example I was looking at the interco TrXus M/T's today and they look awesome), but they need to be decent in wet, snowy, icey weather. I average ~17k-18k miles a year so I'd like a set that can reasonably last me at least two years with proper inflation and rotations. Thanks for any suggestions you guys have for me!

I have the Bridgestone Dueler A/T "REVO" tires on my truck.

They may not be as aggressive looking as what you want, but they do have a very unique tread pattern that does surprisingly well in all conditions.

I swear I saw a commercial the other day that if you buy 3 tires then the 4th one is free through the end of the month.

There are several models of the Dueler A/T, but like I said mine is the REVO.

I think it is SULLIVAN tires that is offering the buy 3 get 1 free. I watch NESN to cath all the RED SOX games and have seen the commecial numerous times. So if you have a Sullivan tire nearby check 'em out. Not sure which brands they carry though.

I've never heard of sullivans, but I have a coworker who swears by the REVO's on his Ram. I'll definitely put them on my list. Am I correct in assuming that the more aggressive mud terrain tires are probably not going to be well suited for snowy/icey highway driving? I like the way they look, but most have minimal if any siping on the tread.

BFG AT KO's. Good tires w/ an aggressive look, but very civilized on the road. They also last a long time, too

The camp tends to be divided on the BFG and the Revo. Both are great.

Well I've been happily running REVO's for a while now with no complaints. Great tire. But I put them to the test on the fourth and they impressed me beyond description. There was a big fireworks show put on in downtown Houston. I knew of a large flood plain between a freeway and a bayou less than a mile from the show. Most years it's packed with people and vehicles of all types. We've had rain every day for about two weeks though. I was the only one who dared to go beyond the gravel under the bridge. And I went way in, about a mile in. At times the trail's mud was so thick the truck was going sideways. I just kept a steady pedal and pulled though. Here's the kicker, I was towing my car trailer the whole time, in and out. It's 18' with a wooden deck and two axles. We used it as a deck for our chairs and pit. There's a nice park on the other side of the bayou, the people just stopped what they were doing and watched in disbelief that we just drove around out there like we owned the place. Have you ever seen the GMC commercial where the guy muds though the construction site pulling a trailer, that's what I did. Though without so much mud slinging. It was awesome. Even some guys in Jeeps were scared. I had more trouble pulling the trailer in the traffic jam getting home.

I can't tell you a thing about how REVO's do on ice. But as for wet and mud I want for nothing. Truely an excellent tire.
