Fuel Pressure?

Hi everybody,

What is the proper fuel pressure for a 2000 GM 5.0L V8 with the CSFI system? With engine off and key on I get 60-66 psi. With the engine cranking, it still gets up to 66 psi (pump running), however, it will not start. It would sound like its about to catch but then it just continues to crank. I got it to start once in a while but it will not stay on for more than 30 seconds then it dies out. Even if I can get it started, the slightest touch of the gas pedal and it dies again. It sounds like its not getting enough fuel but according to the fuel pressure gauge it should be fine. With the key and engine off the pressure drops to 56-58 psi after a few minutes, could it be a fuel pump problem or maybe fuel injectors?

I have changed the cap and rotor & checked the wires. I have also cleaned the idle air valve but none of these things helped. Could the problem also be related to ignition timing issues?

Thanks,

Luke
