oil change

quick question? Bought truck and the message center said change oil, so i did. Now its been about 4000 miles and the message center hasnt said anything. Queston do i wait till it says so or just change every 3000 like always told?

Good question.

I always change mine at 5000kms (3100 miles approximately).

Since I've been using synthetic, I'm waiting for the 'change oil light'. It's been over 6000kms and it hasn't come on yet. Heading out of town this weekend for a short road trip (500kms each way) so I'm going to change the oil regardless.

Personally, I think you can wait until the light comes on. It isn't just based on mileage.

I change mine when the light comes on, it runs about 5500 to 6000 miles.

Thats kinda what i was thinking, wait till about 5000 miles. My brothers avalance message tells % or something for oil. And it calls for change on message at about 5000 as well . Thanks for replies.
