I just recently experienced many problems all at the same time with my GMC Truck. I was driving and all the sudden, all my guages on the dash except the Tachometer stopped working, including the odometer and tripmeter. I found the fuse for it and each time i would put in a new fuse and turn the truck on, the fuse would blow. Also IN accordance with this, MY automatic transmission is having very weird problems where it won't shift out at all, the only gear that you can drive in is 2nd, because if you try to put it in 1, 3, or OD the RPM's just go up and it won't shift. Now I had an old dead battery, but when I bought a new one, everything was fine, all these problems were fixed, but shorlty after, the battery started draining and about a week later, all the same problems had begun again, no guages, no tranny. WE figure something is shorting out and draining the battery, but have checked wires behind the dash under the hood. It seems everyone who has looked at this truck seems perp;exed as they have never heard of these type of issues....Has anyone else heard of these kind of problems????? If so please help, because currently I am truckless. We think also it could possilby be the stereo or the alarm, but when the stereo was all disconnected nothing changed, we have yet to dismantle the alram to see if that helps. One more thing when you turn the lights on, there is a continuous beep, like the door is open, but this occurs while I am driving, and never shuts off. It seems as though the computer doesnt believe the car is on, or the speedometer isnt working because that could maybe make the guages not work, and the trans to not shift??? I don't know so please someone HELP!!!! thank you

sounds to me like you have two choices......either the alternator or computer. Could be that the alternator caused the computer to short out. I am not sure how to check the computer for shorts, but I do know precautions need to be taken when removing it....it is prone to static shorts also.

If you still think it is your alarm, it isnt hard to disconnect them if it is aftermarket.

You can take the alternator off and take it to AutoZone or similar to have it checked. Not sure who can check the computer.
