Battery drain protection?

Do the GM pickups have an automatic shut off that will prevent draining the batteries past the point of being able to start the vehicle, in event of some 12v powered whatever is left on?

Certain circuits have the drain down protection...like interior lights, headlights, radio...etc... I do not know all of them... have you looked in you manual, it may tell exactly which circuits are covered.

I would have to say No. I know I left mine a 2-3 weeks without driving it, appears the Security Alarm can completely drain the battery. There wasn't enough battery left to start it, thought for sure I had completely ruined the battery, truck only had a few thousand miles on it, so I had to jump start it, but then it fully recovered. Now if its going to be a few weeks of non-use, I put the solar charger panel from my VW in the Windshield and it keeps it fully charged.

:) I just bought a 2006 Silverado, K1500 4WD, CC and it is a base model LS, with just a few options. I have the window sticker in my hand and listed under "Standard Equipment" it says "Battery Rundown Protection". I asked the salesman what that was and he said that it prevents the battery from draining itself when you leave misc. lights on, door ajar, etc. The impression I got was that it protects your battery, regardless of what you leave on. What I don't know is how long they have been on Chevy trucks! :chevy:
