When I did my headliner/console (in my post about cutting the headliner) mine did not come prewired. I only had the wire that ran from the original dome light. I ran the console wires down the A pillar to the small fuse box inside the cab with an in-line fuse for extra protection. The console lights only come on when I press the switch for either light and the dome light still operates when the doors are opened or you turn it on with the dash switch. I really didn't want all three lights coming on when I opened the doors anyway. All-in-all, everything looks factory. You will have to go to your GM dealer and order the retainer for the front of the console. Here is a link to my truck pics that show the part number for the center brace you will also need for the console to stay up on the roof. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2254522

I'm sure it's the same part number as my 2000 Sierra Standard Cab. If not, the parts guys should have no trouble finding the part. I didn't get the part number for the front retainer but the GM parts guys knew exactly which one I needed.

Hope this helps. Don't forget to get a friend cut the headliner so you can blame them it it's cut wrong. :)

How did you attach the bracket to the inside of the truck? I just picked up the bracket and I'm not sure how to do it. any advice would be greatly apprecitated.

When I took the headliner out, I just wedged the bracket (after I put some primer on it) between the roof and the cab itself. There is a silicone bead around the rear cab area and the console bracket fit really snug when I wedged it in there. If you viewed my CarDomain page, you will see how the bracket it sitting in the cab. I think the factory uses the silicone as a type of cold weld to hold the bracket in place. Once you get it in place, you will see what I mean. I also used the same type of silicone in the front and rear of the bracket to ensure it stayed in place. Did you also get the front body mount bracket that the front of the console screws into? There should be a small square hole in the front area of the cab (check the CarDomain link in my previous post) where this body mount retainer fits. The GM parts guy I used knew what I was looking for so I didn't get a part number for that one. Believe me, with that bracket wedged in the front and back of the roof plus the headliner in place, it will not move. I have had mine in for a while now and have had no problems. If you need any other help, let me know.

Put the console in about a year ago. But didn't have the bracket. Rednecked the first install with homemade bracket but wasn't solid. My dealer not that smart he can't find the part # for the front mount still rednecking it. If someone has it I would really like to know it if you are willing to share. Also used your site and figured it out. Very helpful Thanks.
