Recently picked up a new 2500HD ECLB. Just wondering what types of steps people are using. I was looking at the DeeZee Elite Chrome nerf steps. Any thoughts / opinions???

TruckTec 4" Oval step tubes from REALTRUCK.COM...click my link to see some pics.

I Like 'em alot. They tend to sit closer to the body which I like. Less of a chance of the Mrs. getting her foot caught inside like some of the other steps I've seen.

2 words - - Stainless Steel.

Looks like the DeeZee Elite's are stainless, so they should be good. I went with polished stainless (by MAAP which I see no longer makes them). I haven't heard of any problems with chrome over stainless. Westin seems to be another big name.

I have the MAAP challenger stainles ovals on my truck... they are a pretty nice step, but not as sturdy as I had hoped.

I had the Westin Ovals (chromed aluminum) on my last HD and really loved them, but I had had to have them replaced a couple of times (warranty) because the chrome didn't adhere to the aluminum very well. Maybe they have fixed that problem by now...

I'm looking specifically at stainless or chrome over stainless.

Being rock solid is important as well.

One of my concerns about the Deezee steps was mounting. I downloaded install instructions, and as it turns out, there is a "stabilizer" consisting of a rubber bumper at the end of a threaded rod that you extend until it sits against the side of the frame. This seems potentially very flimsy to me.

Jimmy J,

How do you like the TruckTec steps? No drill install? Sturdy? Look good after some time?

Love 'em! Polished stainless, no drill install, very sturdy as it has a center bracket (at least for the crew). Took me maybe 45 minutes to put 'em on. As I mentioned in my previous post, I really like the fact that they tend to sit closer to the body unlike some other makes, which lessens the chance of anyone having their foot slide thru the opening and/or getting caught. And call me insane...but I think their a little more aerodynamic than others I've seen due to the fact that they're straight tubes...and lord knows these 6.0's need any help they can get to better mpg's!!!

Cheers!!!
