A/C help Needed

I need help with this A/C on a 2003 2500 HD.

This thing blows cold air from the get go. Its charged.

When 110 out, you can start it and have cold air right now.

Problem is, I cannot figure out how to keep the AC pump kicked in.

After a while, it kicks out, and blows hot air. Nothing will kick it

back in, except time(hours of running, or shut it down, die, lay in the shade

and restart and go, and hope you get where you need to go before it kicks out.

How can I get some 1970's technology on this thing and make it so it stays on even if its its -40 below zero outside?

I want this AC on, and to stay on until I say so.

45,000 dollar truck and can't even have AC.

Ive heard others say its d**n near made them get rid of the truck, and buy something else.

My neighbor has the same problem(2005). Dealer says" nothing we can do, you just have to suffer it out"

They have checked everything, and nothing works.

His blows cold air right from the start too, then kicks off and death starts to creep on as it gets hotter and hotter in the cab.

Is there a way to make the pump stay on till you turn it off, or is there a way to disable this automatic crap?

What makes the pump kick off? I mean, if the outside temp is showing 115 and youre wringing wet in the cab, shouldnt the Auto deal say "A/C On?

Someone surely can figure out a workaround for this, right?

I've called dealers and one said, "We need the business, so bring it in, we will evacuate and recharge it, bla bla bla, but it probably wont change anything"

Well, duh, it blows Ice cold when the pump is on.

Help!

Thanks, Gabe

Sounds like a possible cyl. switch. It is mounted on the accumulator. They are not expensive so I would give that a try next. They just screw off and no need to evac the system. The fitting has a valve.

I would go to another dealer..................no way in hell that the A/C is 'supposed' to work like that.

Unfortunately no dealer knows a fix, but they all know the problem

This is total BS. 45K truck and the AC is worse than a 1972.

When I push the "Snow" button it flashes the icon with the line through it like it is on, but wont turn off.

Nothing but ambient air.

Just left the dealer. Everything checks out.

he said hey........thats what you get for 45 grand. A bunch of crap you dont need and doesnt work.

He said he got so sick of His and no AC, he bought a Dodge.

He also said.........I'd rather suffer without a heater than have No AC, and I couldnt agree more.

Its easy to dress up, but when its 105+ and 135+ in the cab.........you need AC that clicks on and stays on FOREVER if you want it to

My Question........Is there a way to hard wire this thing.......or jump it, like when you jump a starter solenoid?

I want the AC on, and I want it on constant, whether its 100 above or -45.

I mean........trucks before.....push button AC on. Push button AC off.

It didnt matter what. This is total BS.

I dont think another GM is in my future. I'll be honest, this 03 is fully loaded and is the biggest POS truck Ive ever had. Not saying anything else is better(Except a Jap truck and those arent that great anymore either) but at least stuff works on them.

This thing has been a junker since Day 1 with .1 mile on it and only has 7,600 miles. yah.

On our trip to Powell, we got 4 hours into the drive and I had to go back and get my old 86 Toyota. I couldnt take it with the AC keep cutting out. Even going 90 MPH with the windows down is too hot.

I will say, if Toyota ever comes out with a true 3/4 ton truck.....I dont care if it costs 100 grand.......I'll be first in line to buy one. And I'm sure 100's of thousands more would too.

I honestly dont understand how these companies stay in business. I mean, all they are doing is selling warmed over junk with all kinds of options no one needs, uses, or even wants to buy, but are forced too becasue it comes in some package or comes automatically.
