Hi All,

Just finished making my inlet pipe so tomorrow I'll be polishing it and installing the Whipple in my Burb.

All things going to plan (Right!!! :banghead: ) I'll have good news to report tomorrow evening.

Those welds look mighty purty. I think you should think about some rubber couplings for vibration isolation though.

Thanks Ken,

the welds should almost be invisible once I polish the pipe tomorrow morning.

I think I'll install a fixing bracket at the throttle body end.

Wingnut, the pipe goes from the throttle body to the inlet of the supercharger.

This may be easier to see:

All the parts go in the same order as original. Only difference being the TB is mounted further away from the SC.

Here it is polished!

Wowzers! Now that is pretty. SHOW and GO all under the same hood. I wanted to get a supercharger but spent the $$ on LASIK instead. (The old lady said she'd rather see me without coke-bottle glasses than seeing a super charger in the Burb!)

I have been away from this message board for a while so I appologize if this was posted but what was your install like? How are the performance specs now? How old was the engine (high miles?) when you installed it?

Many thanks and GREAT JOB!

Thank's Wingnut!

Hi Eddie,

I've just been in the process of installing the blower over the last couple of days.

Hopefully I'll have it running tomorrow.

Because my Burb is right hand drive I had to manufacture alot of the hardware to suit.

I had to design and fabricate the SC inlet tube as my A/C was in the way of the stock item. That was the longest part of the job. Everyday was come home from work, bolt the parts on, cut and tack another piece then pull it all off and take it to work where we have a TIG (maybe 100 times I reckon and then I threw the original inlet that I made away and started again as I wasn't happy).

I installed the compressor but I was still driving the truck so I couldn't leave the inlet on. I reckon I could pull the blower out in half an hour now :chill:

I had to do some things a little differently to what the installation guide says but overall I think it came out well.

I have a little wiring to do tomorrow (I'm an electrician so that's the easy part) and then I'll chage the oil in the compresor and fire her up.

Ahhh, it's all clear now! Good luck!

Please set up a video camera so we can see the smoke billowing out from your rear tires as you mash the throttle!

Hi All,

Just installed NGK TR6 plugs gapped at .035 as recommended by another Whipple owner.

No more detonation.

Now the Burb really HOOTS!

:D:crackup:

HQ,

how you likin the Whipple?

How many miles were on your truck before the install?

I am thinking about it. Its a big chunk of change, and I have approached the 100K mark on my 01 rado.

Hi Guys,

well, I now have some fuel issues. I started losing fuel pressure a couple of days ago and am not sure whether it's the in-tank pump or something to do with the Whipple electronic boost-a-pump setup.

For whatever reason the fuel pressure doesn't rise under accelleration as it's supposed to. When I go through the tests as per the manual it now fails the last test, when beforre it was fine. Now when

i ground the appropriate wire, the engine stalls instead of reving higher cause the fuel pressure drops.

Whilst the truck was running well, the blower was fantastic!

I would definately recommend one....just the accelleration whilst merging onto a freeway was worth it

I believe it's not necessary but I'm going to buy JET/Tunercat software which will allow me to monitor eveything as well as remove the Whipple electronics.

The engine is the 5.7L Vortec, had 50,000kms on it prior to install but I don't think that'd matter. Accelleration is smooth and boost comes in gently (unless you don't want it to I guess :banghead: ) The trany is 4L60E (truck is 4X4). Have no idea about my diff ratio :banghead:

GET ONE!!! (Check evilbay...mine cost $1500.00 complete and I've seen a few go for around that in the past year)
