Drove a Dodge

Well I have had two HDs and now a Vortec Max in the last 4 years.I have been happy untill now with my Vortec Max.The rear end got real hot on my first tow and now have a droning sensation and thinking maybe saying to heck with it and trading it in on a new dodge 2500 cummins. So I drove one with a stick and then an auto. The power train felt good but what a cheap looking interior.I mean even the top of the line was soo cheap looking inside.I know even our GMs are all plastic but at least things are rouned and smoothed to look nice.So my truck is back in the shop to have the rear end checked again.

Oh and by the way I am a D. C. employee.

Nice to hear your comments. I had a 2001 ram 1500 before I got my HD. I loved the truck, just not enough snort for pulling my 5er. I got to drive my dad's 2005 Ram and I like the bigger feel of the truck. I would go back to Dodge, but a diesel is not for me and I don't think the 5.7 Hemi will work for me.

Have never had a thermometer in my rear but I was able to check the temp of my trucks differential.

I keep an infra red/laser type temp gauge in my truck since our trailers are constantly blowing tires. My diff was at 300 deg and every one elses were around 210-220.

I was pulling my trailer up to payson 2 weeks ago and my temp was only 250 and it was 113 deg out and we haul butt up the hills. So its not getting hot any more but I also put a Magtec cover with Mobil 1 75-90 in it.But my freinds 1500 dodges diff was at 350 deg with no smell.

My diff is a 14 bolt 3/4 ton rear end and should not have any problems but I guess it all depends on the break in.

Its in the shop so I'll see what they say.
