Windshield wiper problem

I'm having problems with my GMC suburban, 1999 and my 1994 Chevy 1500 truck with windshield wiper problems. I'm sure it is in the unit under the hood, because if I tap on it, sometimes they will start back up. I thought I'd remove the unit(circuit board and motor) to replace. I got it unbolted, but it must be linked somehow to the wiper mechanism and I have not figured out how to remove it so I can replace it. I understand these units are known for this type problem. Can anyone help me out?

I have a '96 Sierra that had the same problem. There was a service bulliten on it and they were replacing the wiper motor at that time (around 2002) Call a GM dealer and ask about it. You may get lucky!

 

I repaired mine before that came out. It is a break in one of the tracks on the PC board right next to the connector. If you are handy with a soldering iron, it is a piece 'o cake to fix. If not, find someone who can help you. The unit comes apart easily.
