Installing ambient air temp sensor for thermometer

Recommended Posts

've got a 2006 Silverado 1500 Work Truck. It's the absolute base model, with literally no options.

I'm trying to install a mirror with the thermometer & compass in it. The mirror is in correctly, and the compass is working. The thermometer is showing "OC", which is what I'm expecting since I haven't hooked up the air sensor yet.

I bought the sensor, but am not sure where to hook it up now. From what I've read online, there will either be a plug near the driver's side, in front of the radiator, or you will have to install the plug. I can't find a plug to hook the sensor in to, so I'm assuming that I will have to install the plug myself.

The problem is, I don't know where to hook the plug up to. I've read a few people who have said the wire going to the mirror terminate near the fuse box, but I can't find them. I know on older trucks, I would have to run the wires all the way to the mirror myself, but from what I've read the wires are already partially run on the newer trucks.

Can anyone give me a good explanation of where they go? Pictures or a diagram would be really appreciated, if anyone has them. Pictures of where the wires are located, and a good picture of where the sensor mounts would both be very helpful.

Thanks

sorry no pics, but

the sensor mounts on the center bar in front of the condensor, far as where to hook it up.

the wires from the sensor go directly to the mirror, in the pic the two wire should go to #6 & #7 on the connector to the mirror

I hope this helps you

Thanks for the help, although your pictures aren't showing up. Any chance you could try posting them again?
