Left brake light dead

My 2001 2500hd rear driver side tail lights stopped working. I checked all bulbs and fuses, and they look good. The driver front turn signal flashes very fast, however it works fine on the left side. Also the brake light on the cab does not work.

Could this be the flasher unit, if so where is it located?

Thanks, Jim

they flash quickly because that GM's their way of telling you not all of them are working.

did you turn on the turn signals or 4 ways and walk around the vehicle and see if all of them are working.

lot of the time the turn signal on the back is also the brake light so if they are one and the same you need to figure out why its not working.

you can always put a known good bulb in the inoperative bulbs place, such as taking one of the ones you know is working and swapping it.

If that doesn't work, I suggest you check with a test light at each inoperative bulb and see if you have current, if you have current use and ohmmeter and check to see if you have ground.

if you dont have either positive or ground there is a good chance the harness came unplugged or is open, I'd look for that under the tailgate area of the bed because that is where they connect the tailights to the chassis harness.

Thanks for the quick reply. I swapped the passenger side bulbs to the driver bulbs and I get no turn light, no brake light, no emergency flasher, and no tail light on the driver side. The passenger side works fine with the bulbs swapped.

I checked the bulbs in the cab brake light and they appear O.K.. I will replace them to rule that out.

I will check out the harness next.

Thanks again, Jim
