flashing light on dash?

Recommended Posts

Posted

I was tracing a wire on my 89 GMC sierra and I had to unplug the connector for the dash. When i pluged it back in i noticed my e-brake light was flashing. It flashs quickly 8 times, then one long one, then repeat. I thought maybe i needed to re-set the gauges so I took it for a drive but it's still doing it. Is there some kind of blink code warning here? I also tried un-pluging the connnector for the e-brake but it still does it, so obvousily there is somthing else wired to that light.

any help?

My parents' suburban (90) has been doing this for years now since we had the rotors turned to the smallest they could be to try and get rid of the gouges in them. We aren't sure if it has to do w/the ABS that it has (early system) or if it has to do with the rotors, but it still stops fine so we haven't messed with it. Ebrake works great too. After awhile, the light will stop blinking and just stay on solid for days, then go back to blinking.
