Muffler question

I have a question about mod'ing a muffler. My wife is taking over the Suburban, and she says its to loud. Rightnow I have a FM 50 series 2 in, 2 out. I want to know what will happen if I cut one of the duels off, and cap it off. Will it get louder? I am looking for a stock muffler to put back on, but no one seems to have one.

If you go to a aftermarket muffler shop, you should be able to get one (aftgermarket and quiet) for about 50-100.
