Sierra89 Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Hi all, For the past few months I've been having problems with my 89 GMC. When I start her up, she runs fine. Then once she warms up the idle is irradic at best, and most of the time she wants to stall. When i get on the accelerator hard, the truck hesitates, then slowly picks up speed and the Throttle cable has become very stiff. Its also flashing a TPS error code, so i obviously need to replace that. I've found a good used TBI unit for $150.00 cdn, including all the sensors and injectors. If a replaced the whole unit, should that fix the problem? assumeing all the sensors are good on that unit as well. Thanks for any input
TEE Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I wouldn't trust it if it's used...it's your money. Replace the TPS and move foward...
95Sierra2500 Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 It may or may not work, it would depend if everything on the used unit works. Perhaps just swap the TPS from the new one to the old one to save you some time for now? Then rebuild your new one for a little more airflow, then you've got a spare!
