steering seems a little loose

Hi all,

 

I just had my steering pump replaced under warranty yesterday and when I drove it to work today the steering seemed a little more loose. i am talking about when you are driving straight and the steering wheel is on center, it sems to have more "play" in it than before. Is this something that might have happened as a result of a new pump?

I doubt it's being caused by the pump. I would venture to say that you could have many things going on, all of which would require investigation. You could have a bad steering shaft (loose splines), a bad steering box/rack, bad center drag link, pitman arms, inner/outer tie rod ends...That about covers everything. The best thing to do is either look it over yourself (w/someone inside to turn the wheels) or take it to a shop and see waht they tell you.

No it doesn't wander, you can just wiggle the steering wheel a little more without actually moving the truck.
