Allison Auto

Did you ever notice that although the 8.1L retails for $850 in both the Chevy and GMC, the Allison is $2295 in the Chevy and only $1200 in the GMC.  That is comparing an LS Chevy to an SLE GMC.

I find that rather odd don't you?

I thought the same thing, but then found out that it is the same for both.  In the high end Chevy the 4L80 tranny is standard, but if you upgrade to the Allison they give you a credit towards the Allison, bringing the price down to a $1200 option over a $2300.  I think that is how you also get the $1200 in the GMC.

Its one big confusing mess.

I see now...

The manual is standard in the Chevy where the 4L80E is standard in the GMC.  Therefore it is a more expensive upgrade to get the Allison in the Chevy than the GMC.

I also noticed that the manual is a credit in the GMC, so it all makes sense now.

The reason I brought this up is because my buddy is kicking tires right now, and he asked me about it...
