Shocking Question!!!

I am tired of driving the boat on rough seas.

I have a '05 Crew Cab 1500 2wd, coil spring front no quad stear.

Has anyone tried the Monroe Reflex Mono's?

Noone sells the Bilsteins here in Jacksonville Florida and I'm over 1,000 miles away from home.

What can I use?

Oh yeah...I guess I have a freak of a truck. The only 1/2 ton Crew Cab they all seem to show has torsion bar front suspensions.

Ok...I just got back from spending all afternoon in Sears and Advance Auto Parts. From what I've seen, I have the only 2wd crew cab 1500 (non-HD) with a coil spring front suspension.

I'm sure this isn't the case but Monroe, Edelbrock, KYB and Rancho don't make a replacement according to there books. I guess when the problem get's any worse...I'll weld in bar stock and lower my tire are pressure...lol

It's not a Coil over. It is a typical coil spring suspension (Coil between 2 A-arms) and the Shock is mounted inside the spring. It has a traditional eye mount on the bottom and a stem mount on the top.

That looks like the standard 2WD 1500 suspension setup. I can't imagine that a crew cab would be any different from a standard or extended.

You know,Some of us have argued about this suspension thing on other threads.

It seems that some 1/2-ton 2wd crew-cabs have coil springs and some have torsion bars.

We just haven't figured out why GM built them two different ways. :)

But I'll tell you this...all the 1/2-ton 2wd crew-cabs I've seen have had coil springs, not torsion bars, but I know some guys on here have them with torsion bars because they posted pictures of them.

The parts books show an "Exc. Crue Cab & ....". The only suspension they specifically indicate proper fitment is the Torsion Bar set up. I didn't know that GM used the Torsion Bar on 2wd trucks.

I'm going to call Edelbrock tomorrow. By reading the specks for today's available shocks...I was wanting the Reflex Mono. It looks like I will take what I can get.

Try an older model year in their books. I think any 99-present 2wd with coil springs will work. Don't tell them about the Crew Cab. Try any year/cab configuration that yields a 2wd coil spring. The resulting shock would likely work.

I got the Bilsteins from www.shockwarehouse.com, and I am very happy with them, great ride, handles like it has a new sway bar.

(I don't know how far away that is from you, but its in Florida)

The Bilsteins were the only ones we could find that fit the 1/2 ton crew cab.

Also, I don't think many people know much about shocks, I couldn't get anyone to answer my pleas for help either.

Good luck

I personally haven't seen any 1/2-ton 2wds with torsion bars,But a couple guys on here with '06 1/2-ton 2wd's have torsion bars.

Check out the "2WD & Sport Truck Suspension" forum section here,There are two threads on this subject, drop down about 8 or 9 threads and then another 6 or 7 threads and you shoud find them.
