Instrument Cluster

Ok, had a problem with the instrument cluster. All of a sudden the odometer/gear selector would just go completley dark while driving. Then eventually it was out completley (only came back maybe 1 time for 5 minutes since). Also notice the message center was not working at all or the high beam indicator. Went to the dealer and they stated that the instrument cluster needed to be removed and sent out to be checked. They sent it out and 4 days later I received a new one with the mileage transferred. Installed the new cluster. Worked for about 10 minutes. Then.. the fuel gauge went to empty, all lights lit up on the cluster and the message center kept flashing every possible error..(low fuel, service ride control, battery, etc) but the truck as fine. Then let the truck run for about an hour. All lights out and working fine. Now every 4th to 5th time I start up and drive I get all of the lights and they go back to normal after say 30mins. Sometimes the brake and ABS lights stay lit. I have been debating if the cluster is still bad or something else. Does the dealer need to program something for the new cluster? Is there something else that just started to cause this the same time the cluster was replaced? Please help, I am lost. Dan

Sounds like a possible ignition switch. There are several TSB's on the topic of clusters, but since you just had the cluster replaced, it must be the latest and greatest with the latest calibrations. I'd look the ignition switch for sure.

Thank you for the suggestion. They recently replaced the multifunction switch at the dealer. Could that have affected the ignition switch?
