Hi everyone. My dad's old 1994 K1500 Suburban needs new tires soon. Rather than just buy new tires, he'd like to upgrade to a 17" factory wheel. If you have factory 17" wheels w/tires that are taking up space in your garage let me know. He doesn't want General brand tires.

 

I'm looking for this setup (Pic of his 04 Sub)

May be hard to find a set of those wheels with anything but Generals, at least in my neck of the woods.

He wants to go with the 17's because they look better. We've never had good luck with General tires which is why he doesn't want them.

 

I've seen some of the chrome 17's that come on the plainer trim trucks. I wonder if those would work?

I'm sure they would. Surprisingly, though, you don't see as many of those wheels for sale. They should be more common as they are the standard wheel while the aluminum is an option, but I very rarely see a set of the chromes for sale.

Hi,

 

I have a set of four OEM Z71 Chromed Rims that I purchased from a company in California and used on my 2004 Avalanche.

 

I used them for Winter wheels for 2 Winters (about 6 months total time).

(Dec 2004 - Jan, Feb 2005 & Dec 2005 - Jan, Feb 2006)

 

They have been sitting in my basement from last Winter & I will not be using them anymore as I have purchased a set of Winter 20's.

 

As you can see in the pic the tires have plenty of tread left.

 

They are Goodyear Wrangler AT/S P265/R70-17

 

The sidewalls of the tires look bad in the pic, but they are actually just dirty from all the dust that was attracted to the armoal on them while sitting in my basement.

 

They are NOT curb rashed and will look great once cleaned with Wesleys and armoraled.

 

I originally paid $895 + shipping for the rims alone.

 

I want $750 for the complete set of four Rims & Tires plus actual shipping cost.

I will NOT add on handling, or packaging expenses as some people do.

 

If you are local to Long Island, NY we can arrange pickup, or meet somewhere.

I also have a set of the same exact rims in the stock machined surface with silver painted recesses.

 

The finish is similar to the one's that are on your Suburban above but with a slightly more polished look.

 

They are the original wheels that came off my truck when brand new.

 

I don't have tires on them (because they are on the chromes above) but I want to get $400 for all four plus actual shipping.

 

Any marks you see in the pic are just dirt, grease and handling marks when having the tires removed and will be easily cleaned off before shipping.

 

They are in Mint condition with 2 months of use before being replaced.

      First of all sorry, I know there are a ton of transmission temperature threads...   My truck is a 2025 LZ0 High (10l89 10-speed) High Country with NHT max trailering package. The NHT package is supposed to have "enhanced cooling."   Normally the trans temp sits around 200. It seems like with any real stress it quickly jumps into the 220s (for example climbing a grade unloaded at lower speeds). I haven't towed much with this truck, but I'm concerned if it gets this hot unloaded.    I've tried a few different things to keep the temps down (tow/haul mode, sport mode, low range when that makes sense) and nothing seems to affect it.    I'm curious if others are the same behavior or if anyone has found techniques to keep the temps down. It seems like it just can't handle reduced airflow at lower speeds, even with relatively light loading.    Thanks!

      I'm at 105,000 miles on my baby Duramax. No issues yet. I hit 31 mpg's traveling through hilly terrain to a project in Colorado. I will buy another 3.0. I'm not concerned.

      I'm glad you have 14,000 trouble free miles. Frankly though, that's a really low bar. A bare minimum of 80,000 trouble free miles as the norm (rare exceptions always exist) across the whole model year should be a starting point. Good maintenance habits should push these past the 100,000 mile mark with only the most minor of issues. Let's hope GM truly leveled up the quality game with these new engines and exploding engines under 50,000 miles are gone.

      This is exactly the reason our EV has consumed so much of my driving. I don't want to fire up a cold diesel or gas engine just to drive 2 miles up to the store. It's arguably terrible for an engine. If I'm not driving at least 10 miles and don't need to do truck things, the truck stays parked.   Enter the EV. It's immediately heating or cooling the cabin as needed (heat pump). An engine doesn't need to warm up or be driven gently. I can tear off in it with ZERO guilt. Move the car 1/4 mile from store to store and not think "gee, I'm short-cycling a lukewarm engine".   It doesn't idle in a drive-through. Doesn't idle at stop lights. (OK, neither would the diesel, if I let stop-start have its way, but I don't).   Even moving it out of the garage to wash it... HA! It doesn't need to be started just to move 40 feet. I have cars that I will actually put in neutral and push (no start) in/out of the garage or shop if they absolutely HAVE to be moved. My nice Camaros.
