Siruis for GM now at Circuit City cheap!

I hope I'm not repeating a recent post, but I have been looking for a XM upgrade to my 05 Silverado for a few months and the best deal I found for an intergrated system that worked with my factory radio and controls was an XM kit for around $365 plus install.

I could also buy a XM ready factory take out in mint condition for $150 but then I would have to have it unlocked at the dealer or at least pay someone to unlock it first.

I was at Circuit City today and found that Sirius now has a GM compatable kit for $99 on sale for $79 and they install it for around $70.

The lady at Circuit City said the new unit has only been out for about 1 month.

They just installed one yesterday on an 04 Tahoe and everthing works like it was a factory XM option. All of the steering wheel and factory radio controls and displays function with this module kit. The only thing that is mounted outside the dash is the small antenna and 1.5" square.

I grabbed it up and am having it installed next week. I am going to end up with satellite radio installed in an intergrated factory-like manner for $150 turn key.

I'm pretty happy right now..... :smash::cool:

I've looked for 3 months and the only intergrated kits I found for the GM radio is the XM kits and they are $365 plus shipping and installation which you could do yourself.

This kit I bought today will install onto the back of my factory radio and behave just like a factory system. no external components except the antenna of course.

You can find $10 off $50 coupons for circuit city on ebay for .99 I just ordered one came to 74.90 with tax. Also theres coupons for friends and family gift card back 10% currently. http://www.fatwallet.com/d/130713/9/1/?afsrc=1

From what Ive read you can make this work with the xm antenna and not need to install the sirius antenna that it comes with. Im gonna give that a try.

I'm sure you could find it cheaper elsewhere, but I believe this is the device you need to use a Sirius radio with the factory XM antenna.

Ive read some forums I'll try and find the links about just popping the connector out of the factory xm plug and inputting it into the gm sirius connect antenna input and it works perfect, no $50 adapter needed. Just a lil work pulling the wire from the factory plastic plug.

I went and got one of these boxes yesterday. I went to the Circuit City retail store and the thing was $99. I told the salesman it was $79.99 on their website and he told me I had to order it online and do an in-store pickup for that price, and that he couldn't just give me the discount on the spot. I left and walked next door to Best Buy, where it was also $99. I told them about the $79 deal at circuit city and they price matched it on the spot, no questions asked.

What is the model number of this kit ? How hard was the installation?

I don't normally do it, but I had Short Ciruit City install mine, I think it was $45.

I also went online and did the activation and that saved $5

$45 is quite reasonable, but I'm a habitual tinkerer so I had to do it myself.

i just installed the sir-gm1 and it is excellent piece. i just dropped the headliner in the back to run the antenna thru the 3rd brakelight hole. fairly easy install.

Yeah, I usually would have, but I'm really busy now and took the easy way out. It sounds like your idea to mount the antenna through the back of the roof is a good one.

Circuit City ran mine through the drivers side door post and up the weather stripping to the front left corner. They took the easy way out.
