Climate Control Problem

I have a 2000 Silverado with no air flow control. The climate control is stuck on defrost. I replaced the actuator that controls the baffels and the climate control but I still can't get the new acutuator to move. All other functions on the climate control work normally, fan, heater, and a/c. What else could be wrong?

Manual or auto a/c? If the actuator is electrical rathen than cable operated, you didh't by chance plug in and attempt to operate it before it was mounted on the case? This is a no no, can and probably will damage the new actuator.

Ir you replaced the correct actuator (Driver's side of the case) and didn't do any of the above, then you might have a bad control head.

It's a manual climate control unit. I replaced the driver's side acuator. The actuator came as an assembly, with the black plastic case that moves the baffles stapped onto it. I did power up the actuator assembly without screwing it down to the baffels and it went to defrost mode position but won't move out of defrost. This is the same positon the old actuator was stuck in. I have also changed the climate control mode and it still doen't move. I have also unplugged the battery and let it reset. Do you think I damaged the new actuator?

I plugged in the old actuator back in and I can get it move slightly but it doen't move very far, not even far enough to get the mode changed from defrost to defrost/floor. What else can I try?

I got it working. After I read your reply and typed mine I started to realize that maybe the actuator traveled to far and it passed the defrost position and was lost. So I took the actuator apart and removed one of the gears between the motor and position sensor and then moved the actuator back to approximately the defrost positions, only 2 gear teeth backwards (less than 5 degrees). Once I reassembled the actuator, I installed it on the box before applying power. This did the trick. It moves to the correct position on command.

Thank you for all your help! I couldn't have fixed it without you!
