04 1500 crew cab questions

well guys i stopped and was looking at a 04 1500 crew cab with 35k on it for $20,000

its in great condition and it rode great...its got the 5.3 in it as well

 

i was just wondering if theres anything about this truck that i should know about

also, how well do you like your truck and what kind of mileage are you getting?

I just bought an '06 new 1500 crew cab Z71. I've only had it for 4 months, but so far I love it. Gas milage has been impressive:

 

~16 MPG around town with some highway

~20 MPG all highway

 

I do drive it easy though which makes a big difference.

 

You might be impressed with the deals on a brand new one. With the rebates on the 2006 models I got mine for $27k (list was $33k) not including taxes and trade-in. If you want to go used to save some $ I think you could get the one you're looking at for a bit less than $20k.

 

If you do a bit of searching you'll find that the engines are more or less bullet-proof, a few people have experienced some transmission problems, and a few others have had brake rotors warping, but otherwise very good reliability.

I've got an 04 Crew and haven't had any issues besides the steering rattle, which has been addressed under warranty. I get about 15 in town and about 18-20 on the road depending on the speed. I only paid $22k for mine back in 04, glad to see they are holding their re-sale.

take a look at the new ones. if they have any 2006's left I bought mine 4 months ago for $22,200. Its an LT2 with the 5.3l. $2000 more for a new one is the way to go.

well im only 17 so a new truck is a no no right now lol

but july 4th i got a 2003 ford ranger....its ok, ok on gas and whatnot but i want more power and room, my dad has a f-150 supercrew and i like how big it is

but yea, we were passig by it and he stopped in and we test drove it and whatnot.....i really like it, and so does he

the only thing we notices was they at the higher speeds, like 50-60, there was a noise that sounded like it was coming from the windshield area....sounded like wind getting through a crack, but we didnt feel any air comign through or anything. we looked on the outer tape of the windshield and didnt really see anything....what do you think it could be?

if i do get the truck do you think i should ask for them to remove and then re-glue the windshield again?

Vortec engines generally have that sound. My Colorado with the 5-cylinder Vortec 3500 does it, and my buddy's 91 GMC Sierra 2500 with a V6 4.3 does it too. It mainly happens when the engine's under load.

ive never heard that in any of the trucks that have the vortec engines....our friend has a 97 with the 350 and it doesnt make that and he works at a gmc dealer and says theres no noise....and its not the engine, you can clearly notice that.....its defffinately around the windshield area
