Can I link my laptop to my truck?

I was wondering if anyone knew of a program and adapter cable to link my 97 GMC with my laptop? I was watch the Fast and Furious and one of the little jap cars had something like this. It would cool to be able to link the two and be able to read my trucks vital signs, read error codes and/or reprogram things.

well, you could use EFILive but why spend a couple hundred bucks to read your trucks vitals if you are not going for perfomance mods and just kinda lookin for the "neat" factor which will wear off in a couple of months and then you will have a new paper weight and a few hundred less dollars. Just my opinion but there it is

EASE PC Scan is another option you might want to check out. I called them about a month ago and they told me a FULL bi-directional USB setup incl. all cables and adaptors for my Tahoe would cost around $450.- They have different setup options with different pricing at www.obd2.com.

You might even find a beat up Snap-On MT2500 scanner on e-bay cheaper. That's the one I'm using. Properly configured it works great on my Tahoe :chevy: with a wide range of options. I hear that the MT2500 series scanners are also relatively robust so you don't have to worry too much to get a used one. I never had a problem with mine.

Pay attetion: Generally, if you get something really cheap (e.g. some "generic" version) the problem is going to be that most scanners are only advertised to scan powertrain trouble codes and they are exactly only doing JUST that. These are "P..." and "U..." series codes. There are many companies that offer such scanners. However you want a scanner that can scan body codes and ABS codes as well, in other words the full lineup of "P...", "U...", "B..." and "C..." series codes.

I remember seeing videos of him at the trees at a dragstrip, with the laptop sitting open in the passenger seat
