Broken handle on passenger seat

On my 2000 Sonoma, the handle/shaft that allows for the passenger seat to tilt broke off. It looks like the 2 chocies I have for a fix are to either to buy a different seat or take the whole seat apart and replace a large portion of the frame bottom. Is there a better way to approach this that I am missing?

Thanks,

Ryan,

Thanks for the lead. I have an e-mail into the guy so I can understand how it fixes a sheared shaft. Hopefully it will work for that, and save me much work.

I bought the reapir handle from the guy on e-bay and thought I would post the results of using it. The repair handle looks like it is a regualr handle that has a collar machined to slide into the handle (held in place by a screw) and the other end of the collar slides over the stub that is left on the seat. The collar then attaches to the stub and is held in place by a set screw. In my case the stub was approx 3/8" long and when I tried to use the set screw, it would not hold the handle on as the stub was not quite long enough to allow the set screw to tighten securely. What I had to do to make it work was to drill and tap the stub (easy to do since there is already a hole in the center of the shaft) for a 10-24 screw, and then drilled a #10 clearance hole through the handle and collar. This allows for the handle to be held on by the #10 screw, while the set screw keeps the handle from slipping. While the handle did not work as designed in my case, it provided a good starting point that allowed for an easy modification that fixed my problem.
