How can I get my DIC to read Driver 1 again? After dealer ordered a replacement remote fob, DIC displays Driver 3. I've read that up to 4 remotes can be programmed in. Does it go back to Driver 1 on the 5th try, or is there a sequence I need to re-program for Driver 1 display? If this is the case, PLEASE describe the correct procedure for a 2004. I tried a 2003 procedure, with no luck. HELP!!!!!

When programming key fobs, the first one programmed becomes driver 1, second one is driver 2 and so on. I don't know anyway driver 3 could come up unless you programmed 3 key fobs and you're using the 3rd one programmed.

The number on the back of the key fob is only for reference and even though it may say "1" on the back, it'll only be #1 if it was the first one programmed.

Yes, you're correct, this was a used vehicle, when I bought, came with fob # 2. I ordered an extra, and when I had Chev dealer program it, and synchronize original, Driver #3 was displayed. I'm thinking maybe go back and reprogram fob # 2 and see what happens? What is the correct procedure?

You can't just program one new remote and it gets added to the list. Reprogramming remotes erases all information and all key fobs have to be programmed at the same time. So, it isn't like adding a new remote suddenly makes it #3. It's all based on the sequence of programming and how many remotes you program.

You can do the programming yourself, you don't need to go to the dealer. Here's the procedure. Remember that the first key fob programmed becomes #1, etc. And be sure you reprogram all remotes.

-------------

Ground pin 4 to pin 8 of the data link connector (DLC). The receiver will respond by locking and unlocking the doors, and activating the liftgate window release (if equipped) within 2 seconds.

Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously on the first transmitter to be programmed until the locks cycle (approximately 10 seconds).

Repeat step 2 for up to four total transmitters to be programmed (if available).

The receiver will respond by locking and unlocking the doors and activating the liftgate window release (if equipped) within 2 seconds.

Remove the ground applied to the DLC.

Lock and unlock the doors in order to verify the transmitter operation.

Activate the rear window release in order to verify the transmitter operation.
