Tekonsha Prodigy install with a twist

I have a 2000 Silverado w/out the trailering package. The dealer did install the factory hitch for me when I bought it. I have the prodigy and the pigtail so that should be it, right? Unfortunately it isn't. I have plugged in the pigtail to the convenience panel behind the brake pedal and connected it to the prodigy controller but I get no display action. It is as if there is no power to that connection. I will check the voltage of the brake circuit in the convenience panel tomorrow but am just stumped at this point. Does anyone know if I need to run extra wires that may not be stubbed out to the convenience panel? Any advice is welcomed.

Correct on the fuse. Slide the manual override on the controller. With out a trailer connected it should display "n/c". Also pressing the boost button on the controller will display "b1, b2, b3" with accompanying dots at te bottom.

40amp fuse in stud 2 (?) in the underhood electrical center.
