engine heaters

2003 2500HD 6.0, Alaska, not sure if this truck has any kind of engine heater already installed,havent seen anything to indicate that it has one.Would like to install a pan heater,but not sure about the block and which type to install,either freeze plug or tank type, did a tank type on my last truck a 97 2500,not a lot of places to install one so we had to be creative,dont want to do that again.Anyone done an installation of either one of these on a newer truck? Thanks for your help.

well took a look around the engine and couldnt find any sign of a heater,so back to

looking for a recommendation on a engine heater.

well took a look around the engine and couldnt find any sign of a heater,so back to

In my 02 sierra 2500hd, there is a plug (regular 3prong 120v) tucked under the drivers side wheel well. I've personally never used the heater but it was an option the truck already came with and i wasnt about to ask them to remove it. If you have already looked and cant find it, then chances are you dont have one, but i figured i'd mention it anyway.

Look in your glove compartment at the RPO code list. If you see " K05 " your truck is equiped with an engine block heater.
