Ok...I have an 06 GMC Sierra I am trying to install the factory delphi nav system in. I have it installed , but it is not functioning correctly. GPS signal is iffy, at best. Directions lag behind reality. I was told that i needed to check the instrument cluster for the vss wire. I did see the green wire with the whote tracer in the approriate pin in the instrument cluster harness, but it must not be hooked up because I can go down the road & manipulate system, i. e. new destination, etc.

What am I doing wrong? This thing is kicking my butt!

Thanks

is there wire going from position A4 on the instrument cluster to position E of the radio connector (the small connector of two)?

yeah, like poonis said. Everyone will find the wire at the cluster. That doesn't mean that it connects to your headunit. You need to splice into that wire on the cluster, and run your splice over to the appropriate pin on the back of your headunit. Then you'll be good to go.

Also, some folks have run their splice through a switch, so that you can keep it on all the time, unless you want to have your passenger (not safe for you to do it) enter in a destination on the fly. You can just flip the switch, enter the destination, then flip it back. Worth the effort, if you ask me.

on your year truck, you said 06 right? you shouldnt need a wire from the cluster at all. shoulnt. you have the delphi tnr800? i just installed one in my dads 05 silverado 3500 a few weeks ago. as stated in your instruction manual, MOST 04 and up models come equipped with that wire in the radio harness. the smaller of the two. in the E position i believe. thats it. now, if you dont have that wire installed in your harness then you will have to run that wire that came in the box, from the gauge cluster to position E of the harness. and as the last thread said, i did install a switch, so that when you flip it, itll allow you to enter in POI and address info, then back to navi with another flip. also as they said, the gps antenna, make sure its well connected. thats all i can think of. good luck
