wanting to hit mid/high 14's

I would like to eventually hit the mid/high 14 second area. I have just bought a magnaflow muffler, and i plan to either buy an intake kit or just fab up my own ram air set up. after that Ill be getting ordering a wait4me tune. that will be all my mods till i rebuild my bank account, but out of curiousity:

a)what times / dyno #'s could i expect from those small mods

b) what more will i need to reach about a 14.7 ish....daily driver so nothing that will wear out my truck and nothing that will crush my gas mileage.

Slicks, I was spinning half way thru 1st and ran 14.9 @ 91mph

 

Ive actually been seriously considering getting some cheap cheap 6 lug wheels and getting some slicks put on. Im trying to decide whether I want that before the Volant CAI w/ ram air. Either way in Spring Im hopeing im running mid 14's. I think with slicks Ill gain .2-.3, cause like I said when I ran, it was like a slip n slide for a second or two. I was still going pretty good, but I could feel the ass end fishtailing around. Nothing bad but decently noticeable.

 

P.S. wait4me 87-89 tune gets you 10-15hp, plus higher shift points and no speed governor. 91-93 octane gets I think 20-25. My truck used to shift at 5400-5500. Now its more like 5700-5800. I can also mash the gas @ 65mph now and it shifts into 2nd and hauls :confused: It used to shift into 3rd, that was lame.

Interesting... my truck downshifts to go-gear at 65-66mph but it won't give me anything better than 3rd after that, and I don't have a tune yet.

:confused: I bought my truck used so it might have some sort of tune I don't know.

Mine is still in 3rd at 140mph. It will not go to 4th...This is with a tune and rev limiter removed.

 

I'm kinda glad it won't shift to 4th though. I don't need to go that fast. :cheers:

thats really impressive. i have an ext cab/standard bed and 4x4 so i got a decent amount of weight more than you, i dont have the spinning problem. outta curiousity, what kind of gas mileage did you pick up with the Wait4me? (which tune did you get?) after my intake/tune/muffler mods, what should be next?

-Headers? (i have to keep cats)

-high flow cats?

-ported heads?

-gears?

-cam?

I got the 87/89. I just told him max power with out loosing fuel economy. The mileage really hasnt changed. Im useing 87 octane now that winters here and I dont do any hot rodding. I hate winter...

 

Head work would be pretty expensive Id imagine. Cam and headwork would probobly harm mileage. Im not sure what Id do. Probobly gears.
