2003 cabin air filtration replacement

I have a 2003 GMC 3500 series pickup that had a fire underneath. Now there is a bad smell in the cabin and need to replace the cabin filter. How do I do that. Cannot find instructions anywhere. I have the filter. Just need instructions. I also have a 2003 Suburban and will also change that filter if I find out how to do this without any problems. I am a female so need good instructions. Ha Ha

I'm going to give you real easy instructions... take the filter back and get your money back. Your truck does not have a cabin filter. That was eliminated in 2003. Here's a TSB explaining this change...

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

 

Condition/Concern:

A customer may inquire about the availability of the passenger compartment air filter.

 

Recommendation/Instructions:

 

Starting in the 2003 model year, the passenger compartment air filter is no longer available as a factory option. With the redesigned HVAC case, the opening for the filter cavity has been molded over.

 

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

The 2003 and up do not have cabin filters.
