My truck would not start this morning and I had to catch a ride and leave it at the house. I won't be able to get to it this afternoon but here is whats going on:

I went to auto start (Viper alarm) this morning and well it did not start.......hmm odd. Get dressed and go out to my nice and cold truck. Turn the key forward and nothing!

Hmmm, battery? Nope shows 12v on the gauge and the lights are bright. Radio and AC works........ooookay. No lights left on, in park..........looks good............try again, nothing. Does not click, does not turn over.

It acts as though you turn the key forward but never enough to crank.........so you hear the fuel pump come on but thats it.

IDEAS:

Alarm is equiped with a starter kill so I'm going to disconnect the alarm first and see what happens. Is it possible anything froze up (cel)? 18 degrees last night.........sounds stupid but the truck is stuck.

Try jump starting it, your battery is probably dead. I left the door slighty open once (didnt notice lights on) and mine did the exact same thing. Maybe something is wrong with your alarm.

on second thought my dads 02 HD 6L has done the same thing before. You probably have a dead battery. Its actually done it twice..

I'm going to say dead battery too. Exact same thing happened to me in the summer. The interior lights and radio all came on, but the starter wouldn't even make a click.

I went back and the dang thing cranked right up grrrr. I think it was a relay in the alarm not working due to the cold as they are known to do. I'll try early tomorrow and see what happens while its nice and cold.

On occasion, the alarms will throw a bad code to the stock computer when it remote starts it. The passkey module sometimes gets confused. If the stock computer sees a bad code coming in, it shuts it down for 15min, I think. It does this because somebody might be stealing it. Normally if you wait for 15min or so, it will start right up.

You might want to take it to whomever installed your remote start and have them put in another bypass module. Vipers have lifetime warranties on them, and the install should be lifetime too.

I don't think the 02's had battery rundown protection? I could be wrong. My dad's 03' went dead tonight and I'm hoping it was because I had the guys at work run a diagnostic check on it in the parking lot and testing had something to do with that.

Hey guys. Soudns like a familiar problem. I had the same thing happen to mine about 8 times thiss summer. What a hassle. All lights come one, lots of power but turn the key and nothing happens. Its seems to be very random. I find though if I let it sit for about 1hour it will fire right up. Very frusturating. I changed my starter relay and so far it has not done it since I changed it thankfully. I even called gm about it and they have had not complaints about it. So who knows.

Mine has done that once. My suspection was that the bendix in the starter was stuck because the spring is getting old. I came back the next day and it fired right up. I just hope it doesnt decide to do it anymore. I have also had it not start, but when I tuned the key to start it, the battery would drain and everything shut off. That ended up being a corroded connection to the battery...
