Load Leveling

I was wondering if any of you guys that have installed suspension lifts are using a load leveling system?

I was looking to try and ease some of the strain on my Chevy that it experiences when I pull my ski boat around. I am running a 6" spring lift with 35" tires and a 5" drop hitch and my 5000 lbs boat creates a little more than desirable sag. I could use a shorter hitch but that would only succeed in helping the trailer not the truck.

I know that Tuff Country makes an extension piece for lifted trucks, so I know that it can be done. Hellwig also makes a helper spring that I think might work with the rear leafs that are installed.

Just looking for any type of feedback, good or bad, or just overall suggestions on how to help the problem.

What exactly is a "spring lift"? How is it different from a normal suspension lift? I have a 6" lift on my 2500HD and all it does is add 5" blocks in the rear. It retains the stock leaf springs so the payload is not affected.

nice rig socar, but yeah i was thinking about putting some new leaf springs on my truck too. its starting to squeak really bad and im thinking that might solve my problem....as for your problem my only guess is to put new, stronger leaf springs on and see how that works

By spring lift, I meant that I had the 5.5" leafs in the back vice the add-a-leaf/lift block option.

I really gets to me because the rear leafs are new (May '06). I had the add-a-leafs and blocks before but swapped them out in hopes of correcting the sag problem.

A helper spring is probably more of what I need, I just didn't know if it would work with the taller leaf stack that I have now. I was just looking to see if anyone had similar problems and how they went about fixing it.

No, I have my stock springs in the back. The kit i have does not change the leaf springs so the weight carrying compatibility is not altered.
