Recommended Posts

Hello,

New to this forum, I have searched and cant find what Im looking for. My son has a 2000 GMC Sierra Step Side, My DH just installed the new HD unit, but 3 of the 4 speakers are blown, and I need to replace them all.. But I cant figure out how to remove the door panel, it has the manual roll down window. Can any one tell me the steps to remove the panel and roll handle to replace the door speakers. or a link showing how to do this.

Thanks

Thank you, these links were helpful. But still running in to the same problem, Most of the instructions show you how to remove with electric window panel. My sons truck has the manual crank window, so How do I remove the handle, it is coverd with a plastic piece, Does it pop off and maybe a screw underneath, I guess I will have to get creative tomorrow and try and figure it out, I am a do it yourselfer. and can fix most things on our cause myself, but this one is new to us, so have not had much to fix on it yet.

I recently replaced the glass in my passenger window, and these threads were very helpful:

Mine was slightly different, but these two threads saved me at least 2 hours.

I'm not familiar with the NBS window cranks, but on older vehicles, there's a clip you remove, then slide the crank off of the shaft. You can buy a tool at your local AutoZone or other parts store for dirt cheap for this purpose. If you use a screwdriver or other tool, you run the risk of damaging the panel.

You'll probably need a special tool to remove the window crank. Most auto parts stores will have them for about $5. I can't give you any help about the other steps to remove the door panels, but Crutchfield sells a complete set of instructions to get to all of the speakers. The instructions come free when you buy any speakers or head unit through them, and are $5 on their own.
