Upstate Chevy NYS Inspection

So i get this card in the mail for $1.00 inspection. Thats right people. $1.00 out the door inspection. Of course, mine's been overdue for a few months, so i figure "why not".

The first thing they do, of course, is rip off the sticker. So i sit in their s**tty waiting room for 2 hours waiting for an inspection, and they present me with a "FAILURE" bill.

Emissions passed flying colors. Now here's where the s**t flies.

Wipes are bad---$35/pair. I turned them down.

License Plate Bulb out----$18.

I KNOW for a fact the bulb worked before i took it there. I checked all the lights on the outside of the truck, as i KNOW they nail you for stupid petty crap like that. And there is NO WAY i am paying $18 for a bulb i can pick out of a parts store for 97¢.

Then the real crap comes.

They tell me "you have a rack leaking". After a good 3 minutes of trying to figure out what they were telling me, I asked them "are you talking the rack and pinion steering?" ...they immediately agreed "YES" ...without showing me...saying its going to cost $500 for the part. I asked them to show me where the leak was...they said "Customers are not allowed in the service area"

I told them to talk it off the lift, im driving it home.

So i climb under the truck to look. There is no leak. I can see DAMP (FAINTLY) on the rubber boots, and thats it. No drips. No leaks. NOTHING.

Im not trying to bash all chevy dealerships. I hold great respect and pride for ASE Certified Mechanics.

I'm just mentioning that this is the 3rd unhappy item that hasn't gone addressed. And as follows:

1.) No Spare---They said they'd throw one on. Instead they throw a Chevy S10 under the truck, and tell me it fits. I'm not a retard. They then said the truck came with it, and denied giving me a spare that works.

2.) Stolen Bezel---My rear tailgate bezel was stolen when i took it in for something under warranty. They said it came in here like that. That, i know, is bulls**t...because I distinctly remember seeing them pull it into the garage, and seeing it on there (Circa Jan 2006...still unresolved)

3.) Rattle----When i bought the truck, I told them i wanted the rattle fixed. I drove it home, it rattled. One of the major agreements was that i wanted the rattle fixed, it drove me insane at 45mph. I found it to be a sensor. Drove it back in, they say its not covered by the warranty. I find the salesman i spoke to walking around the floor...he doesnt remember me....a week after I purchase the truck.

Just thought i'd like to let everyone know my tales at Upstate Chevy Truck in Attica NY. I am one of about 15 people i know JUST IN MY CITY who have had similar occurances.

I'm going to take the truck to another guy at Trackside Auto tomorrow. Lets see if I can at least get a d**n sticker on the thing...because now it sits in the driveway with no sticker.

The guy that sold you the truck should remember you. Just today I was at the dealer where I got my camry, and the guy that old it to me remembered my name, what I bought, and asked how I was doing. I bought it over 2YEARS AGO. granted I'm 6'9" and people have a tendancy to remember me, but still. 2 weeks? I would really look into finding a new shop. Once you do have them give the truck a once over. Look for anything that might have been covered up. If the dealer you bought it from is as shady as you say, you never know what you have.

I bought it over 2YEARS AGO. granted I'm 6'9" and people have a tendancy to remember me, but still. 2 weeks? I would really look into finding a new shop. Once you do have them give the truck a once over. Look for anything that might have been covered up. If the dealer you bought it from is as shady as you say, you never know what you have.

I'd contact the local media. They eat stories like that up, and love smearing bad shops like that all over the news. Your local station should have a "Troubleshooter" guy who does stuff like that.

I'd also call GM. I'm not sure how much it would help you, but I'd point out that the dealership has given you nothing but a bad image of GM.

Your story also makes me glad I live somewhere that doesn't require auto inspections.

No it was a used '03 XLE. I have to admit from sitting in every year camry from 02-06, They don't look that much different but there is a big difference in room, and the 03's have the most.

I've had dealers like that too. I went to a tiny little "Five Star Motors" up in Lancaster, my brother went there 5 years later, and remembered the last name, what truck i bought...even asked how it was doing.

I have never trusted this dealership from day one. Granted, i always hold some judgment to dealers, but after experiencing them, im satisfied. Towne Auto, a HUGE auto dealer up past the 400 was one of the best ive ever experienced. My dad was treated like gold. They even fixed things not covered under warranty to "Value his Business".

He got his 2002 Sierra W/T for $12,995 @ Towne

What a difference in a dealer, eh?

Upstate Chevy has officially lost my business forever.

I am firing off a letter to the BBB, as well as General Motors. It wont get me far, if any...but my voice will be heard about the deceptive practices at Upstate Chevy Olds.

Drumset, if I were you I would file a complaint with the Attorney General in NYS as well.

I called GM on a Dealership I was having problems with....I bought a used Tahoe that needed a few items repaired upon delivery....they didn't fix them and I needed the truck....so I took it with the understanding that I could drop it off next week to have the work done....they never fixed a thing, I brought it back 3 times and took it home with the same problems....then I had a Warranty Issue and found I didn't have the Warranty I originally purchased....long story, but believe me, the switched the Warranty Policy from GMPP+ to some sorta Ford Care Warranty....called GM to report them about my dealings with M&S of Pawling, NY....they said that each dealership is independently ran and there is nothing they can do.
