p0449 code

03 5.3, got the code a week or 2 ago, I went underneath and check all the connections, wiggled everything and the code went off! Hurray! came back on again a few days later. Since then the ses light has gone off and come on by itself a few times. I know that the 449 code points to the electrical components of the evap system. I imagine that its either the purge valve or the vent solenoid, I'm tempted to replace both. I'm just wondering what anybody else has done that has cleared the code. I'm also suprised that the ses light goes on and off, I thought that once it was set it stayed on until it was cleared. Comments or advice would be great, Merry Xmas!

I'm glad I have nothing but older vehicles. I ALWAYS top up to the next dollar at the pump. If I can't do that with new vehicles, then I guess I won't be buying one, or I'll be having the code deleted. I would hate to have this apparently pretty common issue.

with the price of gas, rounding up is not that much more gas. what happens when you fillup then drive off, wouldn't the sloshing turn it on as well if a 1/3 gallon of gas was too much?

It was the evaporative vent solenoid, just for future reference if anyone searches this thread

I know this is old. But where did you find the solenoid? Mine just got this code today...Would like to get this fixed...Is it ok to run it for a bit? I need it daily....How much was the repair? Thanks!
