True duel vs. 2 in 2 out

Hello all:

I need some guidance/advice here. I am going to put duel exhaust on my '06 Silverado with a 5.3L V8. I know I have 2 cats and I know I want to go with a flowmaster 50 series. I've driven a flowmaster 50 series before and I love the way it sounds outside and the way it doesn't sound loudly inside.

I am trying to decide if I want to go with 2 mufflers independent of each other with one coming out of each cat and out the back. Or... do I want to go with a 2 in, 2 out flowmaster 50 series.

I have heard pros and cons to each and I want to know what all you guys (and gals) think. For instance, I have heard that true duel can lead to breaking clips and hooks because everything is independent and not tied together. Don't know how much truth is in that. Also, I've been quoted on them about the same.

Any responses would be appreciated and sound clips (if available) would be great too. If you can send sound clips, send them to [email protected].

Finally, if anyone has a single stainless tip that's 3.5 in x 18 in. out there that they'd sell me out of a pair, let me know. I have one and don't need a full pair.

Thanks!

I say either go with separate mufflers but have an X-pipe or go with the 2 in 2 out. this way u should equal flow between the 2.

if it was me I would go with an x-pipe then two smaller free flowing mufflers

hope this helps

this advice is worth what u paid for it.....

Depending on where you live and the status of current and future emissions testing, your best and safest bet would be to go 2 IN/2 OUT and leave the cats alone in their current configuration. The two cats are different and handle different contaminants (that's why their inline of each other), so you can't put one on one side and the other on the other side and have the emissions handled properly.

I have two 40 series flowmasters running seperately. each cat has its own and they are dumped right before the axle. I wheel it pretty hard and have had no problems with any clips or hangers breaking. It sound really great too, it has a nice deep rumble at idle and gets really loud when i floor it.

I have the 40 series too with the true dual exhaust. Ive never had any problems with hangers or anything like that. It runs awsome and sounds even better, but i would like to install an X-pipe to equal the flow and see if i get any gains though. When i bought my truck the guy before had a cat-back with stock headers. Their was already dual cats, so i dno about having 2 cats in-line. Maybe for extra cleaning with twice the exhaust running through with a single pipe system??
