Wheel Questions

Hey Guys I am going to be buying some new tires and wheels and this is what I am looking at.  16x8 Mickey Thompson Classic II 5"backspace and 12mm offsetand the tires are Mickey Thompson Baja Radial MTX 285/75R16.  The question I have is I have heard that the HD trucks use a Hub Centric rim and the MT Classic II came with a plastic Hub centering ring to be put on if you own a GM or Toyota Late Model.  What is up with this?  I had Eagle 589's on my 98 Z71 and don't remember anything like this causing me any trouble before.  What do you guys think?  All of this should fit fine under my 2002 GMC HD2500 4x4 Extended Cab right?

thanks

Hub centric is the center bore hole of a wheel matching the hub diameter of the vehicle. This centers the wheel by the center hole rather than the lug nuts.

The ring is an insert for the center bore of the wheel that keeps the wheel concentric to the vehicle's hub during installation.

Some that have used non-hub centric wheels have had vibration problems.  I think one of our members, Roofer, had this problem.

Some said they have had no problems.

As far as the fit, some of the other guys will have to answer that for you as I'm not up to speed yet on all the backspacing/offset stuff yet since I still have stock wheels.  If I ever get aftermarket wheels, I'll look into it then.  :D
