Starter noise/problem

2003 Sierra 5.3L

 

On the first start of the day the start is followed by about 2 seconds of a hard to describe noise. Sounds like the starter is perhaps sontinuing to try to start, but I'm not sure. Only does it when cold (not outside temp but first start. Is the starter going?

Sounds like the solenoid is hanging up....I'd yank that starter before you do ant damage to the ring gear. Ypu may get away with just a solenoid
