Jimmy dies out, hard to start

This happened on my sister's Jimmy a while back, and happened to me. Twice it has happened within a month.

 

I took the Jimmy on a trip to Syracuse, which is about 2 hours straight driving. I had it up to about 70 on the I-90 the whole way with cruise. Went to see a friend. It sat there about 2 hours. When i went to turn it over, turned over no problem. Drove down the street to get a cup of coffee. Came out, and turned it over.

 

 

It would rev up a little bit as normal, to 1000rpm, but then it would stall out. I tried cranking it a second time, it kept cranking about 2 seconds until it finally turned over. I then kept it running by giving it a little gas, and putting it in drive, and taking off. After that, it was fine...even when i pulled over a mile down the road.

 

It just had a complete tuneup AFTER this happened to my sister about a month ago. Now i drove it with the complete tune up, and it did it again. I heard the fuel pump, runs strong.

 

 

My thoughts may be the EGR valve sticking open...maybe. Could this be a look in the right direction?

Have you checked the battery connections?

So far the only trouble I've had that sounds kind of similar to what you describe was due to a corroded + terminal on the battery.

 

Also, did the tune up include a fuel filter?

kinda sounds like cap and rotor were they included in the tune up

They were indeed.
