What do you think is best for defrosting windows

As I was scraping ice from my windshield this morning, I was thinking about the best way to set up my truck to defrost. I have a remote start, and usually start it about 5-10 mins before I head out to the driveway. Do you guys think it is better to have the dash vents on with the "recirc" button pushed in, or to have the windshield defrost on with the heat in high and just wait until things warm up?

I have found that not using recirc works best for cold morning defrosting.

By far, the best thing to do is to put a plastic windshield frost cover over the windshield, sticks under the wiper blades and the ends have suction cups to stick to the side windows. Takes about 30 seconds to put on, and 10 seconds to take off in the morning, no frost at all on the windshield.

You also have to remember that GM trucks (and some others) the AC compressor

automatically kicks on ( to remove humidity) when in the defrost mode....................

The compressor does not come on when it's below freezing outside even in the defrost mode. I think the cutoff temp is somewhere in the low 40's.

IMHO the defrost function is the best way to defrost windows and change the temp in a truck. Also, I thought that by selecting defrost, it overides recirc?

No...That's the third best. The second best is to park it indoors AND have a block heater. By far the very best is to live someplace where it doesn't get cold :nopity:

16" 's of Snow ! ! ! DANG ! ! ! :wtf:

Guys, we don't see 16" of snow in 16 YEARS total ! ! ! ! !

I always thought the defrost was for when you wanted heat up top but not blowing in your face :nopity:

Seriously, I just use the defrost, we don't get the snow and ice like you guys do, but our humidity even in the winter is enough to frost over windshields. I'm so use to cranking up Diesels in the cold mornings that I just crank everything up now and let it idle while the defrost is blowing ........ like mentioned b4, I like the heat coming out of the defrost over the regular vents anyway....... keeps my contacts from drying out so bad.

Not to scare you too much, that was 16 inches overnight. :nopity: We've had about 4 feet so far this year.

Two years ago we got 7 feet in 6 days the third week of March

Ya, we get alot of snow here. Never gets reported on tv, not enough people live here to make it newsworthy.
