Installing Steering Wheel Controls that didn't come stock

I am trying to install a steering wheel that I bought on ebay that has the controls I know that I need a clockspring I dont know where to get one and I dont know how to install is there anyway that you can help it would be appreciated and do you have a diagram of the pins. I have an 06 chevy Duramax crew cab 4X4 SB. Thanks

The clock spring you will have to get at a dealership. To install you have to remove the airbag and steering wheel. A special GM steering wheel removal tool is recquired.

The clock spring # is 261011829. The puller can be purchased at most major autoparts stores for 11 to 12 dollars. It just has hooks instead of threaded bolts for the GM wheel. Go to www.autowoods.com there is a section on steering wheel installation with pictures on this site. Also there have been tons of stuff on this site. Do a search in aks the GM tech. on steering wheel controls. Do a search in the full size light duty section. And there is some good stuff in the SS section. Also do a google search with the number 26101829. You will get a ton of info there. This has done before. All the answers are out there.

 

I am getting ready to do this. I have the clock spring and wheel. You will have to get the reduntant radio controls programed at the dealer. They will have to call the tech line to get a code to do this. Not many dealers will know what you are talking about. Not only will you get the radio controls, you will get the dic info you dont have now.

Didn't read your post as closely as I should have. If you have a heavy duty truck you mave have a single stage airbag. The clockspring # above is for a 2 stage airbag. I think the # you want is 261011828. Check this out to be sure.

got the steering wheel have a guy that said he would sell clockspring for hd for 20.00 i am curious how hard it is to connect bcm let me know is it a plug or do have to do pins???

I believe it is plug in, but there are a bunch of plugs that you will need to plug in. Thats cheap for the clockspring. They are over 300 retail and a little over 200 from GM parts direct. Make sure the one he has is for radio controls. The bigest problem is getting it programed at the dealer.
